ENGLISH: Nyctelia This genus is
found between Santiago and Tierra del Fuego, in Magallanes.
There are many species, several of them live in both Chile
and Argentina. The best place to collect them is in
Patagonia, where they come out early in the morning, hiding
later from the sunlight, burying in the sand or soil. Larvae
are unknown although we are rearing some species within a
Project with Dr Gustavo Flores from Mendoza, Argentina. The
photo below is taken in the seaside near Punta Arenas,
Magallanes, where several species live. ESPAÑOL:
Miembros de este género se encuentran entre Santiago
y Tierra del Fuego. Son varias especies, de gran
tamaño y de gruesa capa quitinosa. Esta especie vive
en Magallanes. Se las encuentra vagando temprano en la
mañana y se entierran a la hora de calor. Sus larvas
eran desconocidas pero se están estudiando como parte
de un proyecto con el Dr G Flores de Mendoza,
Argentina.
