ENGLISH:
Eriopis connexa is the most well known Coccinellidae (and
perhaps beetle) in this region. All children play with them,
kill and eat them in their first years of life. One discover
that they are eating the so called chinitas as the adults
release a smelly brown fluid. The larvae, a rather ungly
thing, eats Aphids. There are a couple of species that live
everywhere in the country. ESPAÑOL:
Eriopis connexa o chinita es el coleoptero mejor conocido
por los niños del pais, lo colectan, los apretujan,
matan y hasta se los comen. Este ultimo hecho lo he
descubierto al reconocer el olor a chinitas y un liquido
cafe entre sus dedos. Las larvas con aspecto perverso, comen
pulgones, o afidos. Hay varias especies en este genero,
distribuido en todo el pais.
