ENGLISH:
Callyntra rugosa : This elegant Tenebrionid lives high in
the Andes, at 2-3000 mts of altitude, in places that are
covered by snow in the winter. Absolutely nothing is known
from its life cycle. The larvae have been reared just a few
months ago in my lab. It is found from Aconcagua to Talca,
always in the Andean side slopes. The bottom view is from
the hills in front of Santiago city, where it is found over
1700 mts. ESPAÑOL:
Este elegante Tenebrionido vive en la Zona Central y Centro
Sur en laderas de la Cordillera de los Andes, a una altura
de 2000 a 3000 metros, entre Aconcagua y Talca. Este genero
ha sido recien estudiado por G Flores y P Vidal. Su larva
era desconocida pero hemos logrado reproducirlos en
laboratorio y ahora se conoce mas de su ciclo biologico. En
la foto se ve ejemplares adultos bebiendo agua en mi
laboratorio.
